Finance Manager (Part time or full time)

Job description

As Qwilr's first finance hire, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our founders, investors and key stakeholders. This role is based in Sydney & you will report into one of our founders.

We are open to working with the right candidate on a part-time or a full time basis (with a minimum of 3 days per week).

Your role will be both operational, as well as strategic, having the ability to make and support decisions that impact the business. This entails:

  • Budgeting and re-forecasting for the business, including revenue, expense, cash, and forex requirements
  • Handling full responsibility of annual Australian Tax filing, BAS and IAS, as well as book keeping and payment of monthly invoices
  • Handling monthly payroll for employees and overseas contractors, including calculation of sales commissions
  • Creating financial modelling frameworks for various business models, revenue attribution and cost attribution
  • Owning the treasury strategy, including the forecasting of cash / currency requirements and short term cash strategies
  • Taking ownership of all financial reports, monthly financial updates and analysis provided to founders, and investors, as well as helping the founders prepare quarterly board reports
  • Running and presenting regular management reports with operational information and commentary to assist business decisions
  • Researching and preparing the business for relevant grants
  • Handling insurance for the business
  • Getting involved with ad-hoc business projects and initiatives (we are a startup after all!)

  • Ideally between 4 - 8 years of relevant experience, including at least a year in a commercial environment
  • CA/ CPA (or equivalent) qualified (we will consider candidates currently pursuing this)
  • Experience with building and presenting management reports, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and analysis
  • Advanced skills in using Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using Xero
  • Bonus points for experience working in SaaS &/or with US entities
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Self motivated with a desire to learn
  • Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure and within set deadlines
